whealy	I know I’ve read several posts from members about how they never let a dealer/Prowler Tech service their car or service it without themselves present. I was just curious what the going trend is. For myself not being the most mechanically inclined, that’s the only way I’ve done my service thus far. Of course I’ve only had two oil changes, CD player swapped out (3 times) and the top skin replaced. When they were repairing the top skin installation interior issue this past Tuesday, the “trim” guys (vendor the dealer uses) I was there to “supervise” and had the opportunity to chat again with the Prowler tech. I mentioned the web site and he said he had seen it but it had been some time. I suggested that he take a look again as in my opinion it’s been very active. I also mentioned the concern that some participants had in using Prowler Techs. He seemed surprised. So I’d like to hear your opinions. ------------------
Marty Usher	The Prowler Tech at the dealer I had been using for service left and they informed me they could not do any warranty work on the car any longer - only typical maintenance such as oil changes, etc. I have since switched to another dealer with a Prowler Tech. I had brief conversations with the service managers and PT at both dealers on my first visit to discuss who would be working on the car, driving it, and where they would park the car. Of course I am in a different situation than most owners since mine is a daily driver and gets serviced regularly. I have never stayed to "supervise" the work being performed but have stopped in to check on progress if the car was there more than one day. ALLEY CAT	whealy - I go to a Dodge/C/Jeep dealer that has one Prowler tech and two Viper techs. These techs are probably the best the dealership has to offer, so you are better off with these type of mechanics. Way too many hacks out there. I usually stay with my car and keep eye contact with it at all times. Don't let the lot kids drive the car back to the techs,,,,,,,,,,have either the actual tech drive it back or the service writer. Trust me on this,,,I had one bad situation and corrected it immediately! High school dropouts don't need to be driving cats and Vipers around,,,even if it is on the dealership grounds.
Gary C	Another good deal about the move is the Tech/diesel tech is the same guy at Palmer,,,, will find out shortly how good he is with the Kat,,,Get a great job winterizing the truck,,, Usually I stay with the car but I am a trusting fellow and would leave the car over night IF THE Kat was inside. Black Tie 161	So far I like my dealer and the tech. they have so much respect for the car. Heck, last time I had the detail guys buff my trunk there (complimentary) and I let 'em both drive the car around the back. It is good to go where they sold a "lot" of Prowlers because that gives better odds of a cert tech staying on board.
Randy Cobb	Whealy: I'm with you in that I only trust myself to do minor work on my Prowler. I don't do the oil changes because by the time I get the oil, do the work and dispose it; I think the dealer's price is more than fair. Plus I've usually got something else they need to check and I think it's a good practice to have in writing that the dealership has done the work or checks in case of a warranty claim. To your question about the quality of work of dealers. I think it depends on the individual dealer. My experience has been like Black Tie's in that the dealer and techs respect the Prowler and are genuinely glad to see me come in. When I bring the car in the service manager ONLY lets the Prowler tech drive it to and out of the bay. The one time I left it overnight they even put it in its own storage facility, which was a former showroom. ------------------
Dave Mills	I do have my Kat serviced by the dealer. Since I have the only Kat this dealer sold, they don't get a lot of experience. I stay with the kat when it is there. They usually take the car as soon as I get there, but I do all the driving. They don't seem to want to even move it around the shop.
Black Tie 161	Whenever possible, I try to take it to the dealer with the top down. The car is a LOT LESS intimidating to drive with the top down if you are a newbie to the car. It drives more like a toy that way... Anyone agree?
BeWare	I must be the exception. My Kat has only been to the dealer a hand full of times in 3.5 years and 23K miles. I get my oil changed at Kaufman Tire and have never had a problem. In fact in some respects they treat me and the Kat better than the dealer. Not that the dealer ever treated me or it badly. The only thing I have never done is leave it over night anywhere. Hope I am never placed in that position.
WildCat	Mine has never been worked on by a Prowler Tech...the guy they sent was the service manager...he is gone..but when he was there another guy worked on it...1st guy did a good job...second guy that worked on it did good job too...3rd guy told me he was a prowler tech ..everything he did either broke something else or made it worse... that is when i found out he was LYING about being tech...he is gone now too...out of warranty so now I'm it's prowler tech There is a guy I've known for many years at Eastgate Chrysler that I would trust to work on the car if the dealership would allow it if I need something done...and yes he is their Prowler Tech
Jim R.	I take all warranty work to the dealer all else I do my self. I am lucky as there are count them 9 prowlers with in 5 miles of my house and Mike Krehel is not too much further than that from me. Before I purchased my Prowler I spoke to the owner of the Dodge dealer close to our house. He has a large selection of Vipers. His viper Tech is also a Prowler tech. So we here in Houston we are covered. Before I turn my cars over to a dealer I make sure they know what I expect. Only Technicians can drive my car. I also had a bad experience with a Lincoln. The car was totaled on the lot by (Porter)careless driver. So to say I am a little touchy on is an understatement. I have also run into a couple of dealerships that get insulted by me telling them what I expect as a minimum. So I do not allow them to work on my cars . All I can say is dealing with dealership is challenging.
SuperKat	I have had excellent experience with the Prowler Tech at our local dealership Walker Harris. This is the only place I take the car. I had a problem one weekend and the sales staff made certain the car was inside and locked. Only the tech drives the car by their choice; they made certain I knew who was working on the car and that we were on a first name basis. They treat the car and me with much respect. I believe they are genuenly enthusiastic and helpful when the car comes in for service. I am very pleased to say the least. Gordon
sunbird	My dealer doesn't have a Prowler tech. They have one mechanic who went to one Prowler class and went to some Viper classes. The dealer is not a 5 star dealer. They have sold (if my count is correct) 5 Prowlers. Not bad for a town of 20,000 people. Three of the Kcats are in town, the rest were sold to people out of town. Service has been excellent. I am always greeted by name. Usually they put two people on the kcat, even if it is only an oil change. Before working on the kcat, they wash their hands and come by showing the cleans hands like a doctor headed for surgery. When I schedule the car for service, they usually schedule it in a 'quieter' part of the day so that there won't be a lot of distractions. Even though they don't have a Prowler tech, I would highly recommend them to anyone. A Prowler tech doesn't guarantee a good job. The odds are better with one, but the attitude of the person doing the work is more important. At my dealer, they treat the car (and me) as something very very special. I think that makes all the difference.
davidn	here in DFW area we are very lucky to have a great prowler tech.. he is the only one that works on my prowler....he checks in here from time to time he name is a Neal and posts under the same name.... ------------------ davidn
Steven R. Gary	Been to dealer three times. Once for oil change, left car and picked up 4 hours later, everything done just right. Had car in for leaking top twice, then they replaced the top. Sent it out to Third party, 2 days later back, better than new, no leaks at all, and top even looks better for some reason, maybe my imagination. Dealership is very particular who drives car to and from roof people. I'm totally satisfied, keep in mind it is still a CAR>>
